BGGF-10 Epoxy Glass Flake Paint

Glass Flake Epoxy Coating is a type of protective coating primarily formulated with organic resins, using epoxy vinyl ester resin as the main film-forming component. It incorporates glass flake pigments, renowned for their exceptional chemical resistance, as the key anti-corrosive element.

Glass flake anti-corrosive paint is extensively applied in demanding corrosion protection scenarios, including the interior lining of chemical acid tanks, marine vessel protection, offshore engineering anti-corrosion, and desulfurization tower coatings. These environments are highly corrosive, necessitating superior durability. The paint is typically available in limited colors, with green being the most common. Another variant, vinyl ester glass flake coating, offers comparable performance but with enhanced high-temperature resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 200°C. This makes it particularly suitable for industrial flue gas duct linings in chemical plants.

Description

Product Description:

This product is a two-component, high-solids epoxy coating reinforced with glass flake pigments, offering exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.

Main Features:

This product is suitable for steel structures exposed to severe environments with both atmospheric corrosion and mechanical wear. It offers excellent anti-corrosion and wear-resistant properties. It is used for the protection of steel structures in various corrosive environments, including splash zones of offshore structures, decks, and waterfront areas, pile structures, pulp mills, bridges, and chemical plants.

Application Instructions:

Surface Preparation:

The performance of this product depends on the extent of surface preparation. The surface to be painted must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Before applying the paint, all surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000 standards. Accumulated dirt and soluble salts must be removed. Dirt can typically be removed with a dry brush. Soluble salts should be removed through freshwater rinsing.

Oil and grease should be removed in accordance with the SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning standard.

Sandblasting should be carried out to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6 standards. If oxidation occurs on the surface between sandblasting and the application of this product, the surface should be re-blasted to meet the specified standards.

Surface defects exposed during sandblasting should be ground, filled, or addressed using appropriate methods. A recommended surface roughness is 50-70 microns.

The substrate temperature should not be lower than 10°C, and it should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature.

Mixing:

This product is supplied in two containers, forming one unit. It must be mixed in pairs according to the specified ratio each time and used up within the prescribed mixing and use period.

  1. Mix the base (Component A) with a mechanical stirrer.
  2. Thoroughly mix all the curing agent (Component B) with the base (Component A) using a mechanical stirrer.

This product is suitable for underwater and outdoor atmospheric environments. For underwater applications, a minimum paint system thickness of 450 microns is required for long-lasting corrosion protection. For general outdoor atmospheric exposure, a minimum paint system thickness of 350 microns is required. Airless spray application provides the highest film thickness in a single coat. With other application methods, the required film thickness cannot be achieved. For air spray application to reach the maximum film thickness, multiple cross coats are necessary. When applying this product by brush or roller, multiple coating layers are required to reach the specified total dry film thickness.

Tool Cleaning: Clean all tools with BTE Thinner after use.
