Fire Resistant Paint Substrate Preparation:
- Surface Preparation & Coating Requirements:
After sandblasting the steel surface, apply a compatible anti-corrosion primer and intermediate coating system. We recommend using the “Jinyu” brand epoxy zinc-rich primer + epoxy mica iron oxide intermediate coating, which ensures excellent adhesion. Both the primer and intermediate coat must be smooth, undamaged, and fully seal the substrate. Failure to do so may cause indoor fire resistant paint for steel to delaminate or lead to substrate corrosion. - Alternative Primer Compatibility Testing:
If other types of primers are used, compatibility tests must be conducted. This can be done through professional lab testing (adhesion and chemical resistance tests) or on-site trial applications. - Prohibited Practices:
Do not apply fireproof coatings for steel structures directly onto unprotected substrates or galvanized surfaces. This can cause corrosion and adhesion failure of the steel fire protection coating. - Pre-Installation Inspection:
Before applying intumescent paint for steel beams, thoroughly inspect the steel components for:- Proper rust-proof primer application
- Dust, oil, or contaminants
- Cracks or weak welds
Only proceed with fire-resistant coatings for industrial steel after confirming all requirements are met.
