What Is CK97 Polyurethane Mortar Flooring?
CK97 is a self-leveling polyurethane cement mortar with a matte, anti-slip surface. It is the anti-slip version of the CK96 mortar: the same base system, three components, carrying anti-slip particles and supplied in four standard colours.
The product is a mortar, not a paint or a thin coating. That distinction matters. A coating film of 0.2-0.5 mm cannot bridge the impact and thermal movement that a food plant or chemical plant floor sees; CK97 builds up 5-11 mm and carries the loads the slab is designed for.
All figures on this page come from the CK97 technical data sheet, and from the CK96 data sheet where the two versions share the same value. Physical properties are tested to JC/T 2327-2015 at 20 °C, with samples cured for 28 days.

Why Choose a Matte Anti-Slip Finish?
A matte surface, not a glare surface. Overhead lighting reflects off a gloss floor and makes visual inspection and camera monitoring harder. CK97 cures to a matte finish, which is why it is the version we specify for food, electronics, pharmaceutical and cosmetics production areas.
Grip from the mortar itself. The surface is rough and carries anti-slip particles, so the floor keeps its grip in wet and oily conditions. Vehicle workshops, ramps, walk-down areas and wash-down bays are the typical uses.
Four standard colours, with colour matching on the CK96 version. CK97 is supplied in four standard colours: yellow RAL 1014, red RAL 3002, green RAL 6001 and orange RAL 1006. Where a floor has to match a colour you nominate, CK96 is the version to specify: it carries a separate 0.5 kg pack of colour pigment as Part D and is offered in two standard colours or as required.
Easy to live with. The cured surface is pressure-resistant, dirt-resistant and dust-proof, and wipes clean. The system is water-dispersed with a low odour during application, so production areas can be returned to service sooner.
Works across the temperature range of a production floor. The cured mortar holds its physical properties from −20 °C to +75 °C, which covers freezers, cold stores and hot wash-down areas in the same building.
Resists what a food or chemical plant produces. CK97 is resistant to a variety of inorganic acids, alkalis and salts.
Which Areas Need an Anti-Slip Polyurethane Floor?
Specify CK97 where the floor has to stay safe underfoot, or where a matte finish is wanted:
– Wet and oily process areas, where a gloss floor becomes a slip hazard.
– Ramps, walk-down areas and stair landings.
– Vehicle workshops and maintenance bays.
– Food and beverage plants, including wet and dry process areas.
– Pharmaceutical, cosmetics and electronics production areas, where glare and dust control matter.
– Cold stores and wash-down bays, where the floor sees both freezing and hot water.
CK97 is not specified for domestic garages, decorative showrooms or areas where appearance is the main requirement. Those floors are usually better served by a decorative epoxy or a thinner polyurethane coating; tell us what the floor is for and we will point you at the right system.

What Site Conditions Does CK97 Need?
Substrate strength. Concrete compressive strength of at least 25 N/mm2 and a pull-off strength of at least 1.5 N/mm2. Test both before ordering material: a slab that looks sound but fails either figure will take the CK97 layer with it.
Temperature. Substrate and ambient temperature both between +5 °C and +38 °C. We recommend 15 °C to 30 °C for the most reliable cure. Below +5 °C, wait for warmer weather rather than forcing the cure.
Humidity. Relative humidity up to 85% maximum.
Dew point. The substrate and the uncured floor must stay at least 3 °C above the dew point. This is the most common cause of a white bloom on a cured polyurethane mortar surface. Where a site cannot hold 3 °C above dew point, wait for better weather.
Substrate preparation. Prepare the concrete mechanically, by abrasive blast cleaning or scarifying, to remove cement laitance. Remove weak concrete; expose blow holes and voids; repair, fill and level with suitable products; grind down high spots. Remove all dust, loose and friable material by brush and vacuum before application.
Working life and access. Working life is 25 minutes at 20 °C. The floor is open to walking after 24 hours, open to vehicle traffic after 36 hours, and fully cured at 7 days, which is when it reaches its stated chemical resistance.
Substrate types. CK97 is designed for sound concrete, and for properly prepared and supported steel surfaces such as steel decks, overpasses and platforms. Un-reinforced sand cement screeds, asphaltic and bituminous surfaces, glazed tile, non-porous brick, copper, aluminium, soft wood, urethane composition, elastomeric membrane and FRP composites need a different system – tell us what your substrate is and we will point you at the right one.
CK97 is a three-component system, mixed A : B : C = 2.65 : 2.85 : 30 by weight and supplied as a single 35.5 kg kit. The kit arrives pre-weighed, so no ratio calculation is needed on site.
CK96, the bright-surface version, is a four-component system: the same three components plus a 0.5 kg pack of colour pigment as Part D, in a 26.1 kg kit. That extra pigment component is what gives CK96 its “two standard colours or as required” range, and it is the reason CK96 is the version to specify when a floor has to match a colour you nominate.
Can CK97 Be Made in a Custom Colour?
CK97 is supplied in four standard colours: yellow RAL 1014, red RAL 3002, green RAL 6001 and orange RAL 1006. Those four cover most wet-process and workshop floors, and they are held as pre-weighed kits.
Where a floor has to match a colour you nominate, specify CK96. CK96 is the version that carries a separate 0.5 kg pack of colour pigment as Part D, which is why it is offered in two standard colours “or as required” and can be matched to a RAL reference or a physical sample. Colour matching is agreed at order stage, because the pigment is packed with the kit rather than tinted on site.
One thing to expect on either version. Slight colour shift in service is normal for a functional floor and does not affect performance. If a colour match has to hold exactly, tell us at enquiry stage and we will advise on the options.
CK97 Packaging and Storage
Pack size. 35.5 kg per kit, supplied as three pre-weighed components (A : B : C = 2.65 : 2.85 : 30 by weight).
Coverage. 15 to 27.5 kg/m2, which builds a layer 5 to 11 mm thick. Coverage depends on the specified thickness and on the roughness of the substrate.
Shelf life and storage. Store at 5 to 35 °C in a cool, dry, ventilated place, away from heat, sparks and direct sunlight. Keep the components sealed until use. Draw kits from inventory in batch-number sequence when more than one is used.
Ordering. Send the area in m2, the substrate, the load and the colour you need. We confirm the system, the quantity and the price in the quotation, and issue the technical data sheet and the safety data sheet (MSDS) with it.
CK97 Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is CK97 the same product as CK96?
A: Yes. Both are the same self-leveling polyurethane mortar system, differing in a few specific ways. CK97 is the anti-slip version: a matte surface carrying anti-slip particles, three components, four standard colours and a 35.5 kg kit. CK96 is the bright-surface version: four components including a separate 0.5 kg colour pigment as Part D, two standard colours or as required, and a 26.1 kg kit. Flexural strength, bond strength and cure time are the same on both.
Q: How thick is a CK97 floor?
A: 5 to 11 mm, using 15 to 27.5 kg of mortar per square metre. Thickness is chosen from the load the floor will carry.
Q: How soon can the floor be used?
A: Open to walking 24 hours after application at 20 °C, open to vehicle traffic after 36 hours, and fully cured at 7 days – which is when it reaches its stated chemical resistance.
Q: Is a matte anti-slip finish harder to clean than a gloss floor?
A: No. The surface is rough because the mortar itself carries anti-slip particles, but the cured layer is dirt-resistant, dust-proof and easy to clean. It is specified for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics plants precisely because it stays cleanable while reducing glare.
Q: Can CK97 be made in our company colour?
A: CK97 comes in four standard colours (yellow RAL 1014, red RAL 3002, green RAL 6001, orange RAL 1006). Where the floor has to match a colour you nominate, specify CK96: it carries a separate colour pigment as Part D and is offered in two standard colours or as required. Send us the RAL reference or a physical sample and we will confirm which version applies, and the lead time.
Q: What chemicals does CK97 resist?
A: CK97 is resistant to a variety of inorganic acids, alkalis and salts – the spillages typical of food, beverage and chemical production. For a specific chemical, ask us for the chemical resistance data before specifying, and we will confirm whether CK97 or another system is the right choice.
Q: What temperature range does CK97 work over?
A: In service it holds its physical properties from −20 °C to +75 °C, which covers freezers, cold stores and hot wash-down areas. It is applied at +5 to +38 °C, with 15 to 30 °C recommended for the most reliable cure.
Send us the floor area, the substrate, the chemicals in contact with the floor and the colour you need. We will confirm whether CK97 or CK96 is the right version, the quantity and the price, and issue the technical and safety data sheets with the quotation.
